Red face 1841 Census lookup please - Frost

    Hello folks,

Can anyone help with an 1841 lookup for John FROST, born Dec 1822 Barnsley, Yorkshire?

He was not living at home (father George and a sibling were in Darfield in 1841).

I presume that in 1841 he was an apprentice blacksmith, probably living in the household of a blacksmith, or perhaps nearby. I expect he would have been in Yorkshire. In 1842/3 he seems to have been in the vicinity of Doncaster, Yorkshire, when Henry Reed of that town advertised for tradesmen to emigrate to Van Diemen's Land.

    Best wishes,

    Lenore Frost

Brilliant! I can't tell you how long I've been waiting for this one (Ok, it's been 27 years.)

Would you mind checking to see if young John Frost might have been 18, or has he been rounded down, do you think, to 15? I've forgotten the rules on the standardisation of ages in the 1841 census.

Thank you so much for finding that, I really do appreciate it.

    Best wishes,

    Lenore
