Thans to all those who replied to my previous thread:

I would like to let you all know that I am going to pursue the following sources.

It was suggested to seek the birth records of Lena Elizabeth Branton which may be found:

Records are at the London Metropolitan Archives and appear to include the female in and out patient register 1874 - 1912.
To complicate matters, there also seem to be records at St Bartholomew's Hospital Archives and Museum.

If I have trouble locating a starting point/port of call at these places, wold there be someone who might be able to assist. It is finding contact deatils like this that does make family research difficult when you live on the other side of the world. I know where to go and who to ask here in Australia!! But things (buildings etc) change their names and items are stored in places I dont even know exist over in the UK! So bear with me!

I am also going to write a summary of potentials for the identity of Lena Branton senior and then see if I could whittle it down. If only I could find a definiative clue like a reference for her age! Hoping the confinment/birth records if they still exist can help.

so heres wishing me luck! I would like to assure everyone that I m not looking for someone else to do my work for me...I could not think of anything worse than having someone else make 'the find'! But I am grateful for support, tips and the sort!

cheers
Jo
