    Question Lookup before 1881 please

I am trying to find the family of George Dorsett, born Princes Risborough approximately 1849. If anyone can look up George and family in a census prior to 1881 I would be most grateful. (In 1881 George was married to Phillis Butcher and living in Bell Street, Princes Risborough.)

    Many thanks in advance,

    Heatha.

    Heatha,

Are you sure your George wasn't born around 1859? Here's a 13-year old George Dorsett living in Princes Risborough in the 1871 census:

    Name / Age / Birthplace / Relationship /
Charles Dorsett 50 Princes Risborough, Buckinghamshire, England Head
Harriett Dorsett 54 Thame, Oxfordshire, England Wife
Sarah Dorsett 18 Princes Risborough, Buckinghamshire, England Daughter Elizabeth Dorsett 16 Princes Risborough, Buckinghamshire, England Daughter George Dorsett 13 Princes Risborough, Buckinghamshire, England Son
Henry Dorsett 11 Princes Risborough, Buckinghamshire, England Son
Ebenna Dorsett 9 Princes Risborough, Buckinghamshire, England Son

Unfortunately, I can't seem to access the census image to give you the father's occupation or the family's street address.

    Hope this helps.

Trish - you are a star. Thank you so much. The transcriber of the 1881 needs new glasses or the enumerator needed a hearing aid. I've now located him in 1901 and he's 33 years old. Which, of course, is right.

Many, many thanks and all the best with your own research.

    Kindest regards,

    Heatha.

    Thumbs down

    Hello Heatha

I looked on the 1851 Census thinking I might find George aged about 2 but unfortunately I couldn't find any George living in Princes Risborough at that time. I looked at all the families in case there was someone of about his age but called something else, but the young ones were female. I actually did a search for all areas of Bucks. not just Princes Risborough, so either he was born later than 1851 or born outside the county.

    Sorry.

Thanks for looking Glenys. You might have found his parents in 1851!

    Kind regards,

    Heatha.
