    Default Tranmere or Birkenhead?

    hello all,
    I have a birth (Helen Hooton) family say born Tranmere but I think I have found Helen in free BMD 1864 birth Birkenhead.

    Is this the same place or are they close perhaps there has been a name change?

    HELP please.

    Don't panic. Tranmere is a part of Birkenhead, and home of Tranmere Rovers Football Club to boot!
