Post Looking for marriage of George Annetts

Can anyone help me with a problem i have locating the marriage of my Great X 3 Grandfather George Annetts who married a Hannah (maiden name unknown) around 1824/1825. George was born in Hatherdon and Hannah in Penton Mewsey and they settled in Penton Mewsey having 7 children there including my Great x 2 Grandfather John.
I am also struggling to find a birth registration for George who would have been born between 1795-1808 ( there are differing dates on each census i have looked at).
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

    Default Marriages in Penton Mewsey.

    Hi Julie.
Have you had a look at the Parish records in your local family history library? There is a film with Pe.Mew. marriages from 1813-1848. Ref no 6344459.
I had a look for George Annetts birth and found a George Annets born 13 Aug 1803. Christened 21 Aug 1803 at Vernham-Dean. Son of John Annets & Ann. Vernham is only just up the road from Hatherden so its a possible link. There are films covering Vernham at the family history library as well. Do you have his sons birth cert because that should give Hannah's maiden name?

    Hi there,
Thanks for that information. I don't live anywhere near Hampshire so am unable to look at local records which is why i thought i would try this way of trying to get some information from maybe someone who does live near or has parish records. You have given me something to go on now which is really helpful. Many thanks

Just in case you aren't aware, the mormon church (LDS) has record centres all over the world which anyone can use and there arrange to view records from all over the world. So, you don't need to live near Hampshire to carry on research. My apologies if you're already aware of this, but it is something of which many new to research are not familiar.

Also, many County Record Offices offer photocopying facilities and/or can provide copies of registers on fiches. I don't live near my areas of research, but am able to do a fair amount using my 2,000+ fiches from the comfort of my own home (and whilst drinking a cuppa, which you can't do in a record centre).

You won't find a birth registration for this period. Parish Registers were mostly concerned with recording religious events and so refer to baptisms, marriages and burials. Thought for the period you mention, many registers do incldue a date of birth.

    Smile Family History Centers.

    Hi Julie
Just to be sure (my apologies if you do know this already).

If you click on this link it'll take you to the "Family History Center Near You" search site.
It costs £2.70 to order a parish record film from them - use the ref numbers from doing a place search - parish records - on the IGI. You normally have to wait 3 weks or so until they get the film from whoever had it before. You retain the availablility of it for 1 month for that price and search it in their facility. They also have Directories of the local area, Boyds marriage index on Fiche which is cheap to look at and various census returns ordered in the same way as parish record films. Very helpful & knowledgable people usually, who don't try converting you!

Default looking for marriage of George Annetts

Many thanks to both of you for helping me with this. I shall use the information given and hopefully will be able to come up with something which will give me a clue what Hannah's maiden name was.
    Best wishes
    Julie
