I am searching for the HOCKLEY family of Middlesex/Essex.
William HOCKLEY, b. c1834 in Essex
Mary Anne HOCKLEY (m.s. BALLS), b. c1832 in Humbleyard, Norfolk
Elizabeth HOCKLEY, b. c1860 in Bethnal Green, Middlesex
William Lambert HOCKLEY, b. 1861 in Bethnal Green, Middlesex
Ellen Skipper HOCKLEY, b. 1864 in Bethnal Green, Middlesex
Kate HOCKLEY, b. c1868 in Bethnal Green, Middlesex
William's parents were Henry HOCKLEY and Martha LAMBERT. Henry was from London, but married Martha in Great Dunmow, Essex. I understand there are a lot of HOCKLEYs in this area. Does anyone have any information on Henry's ancestors? Was his family originally from Essex?
Thanks,
Sarah

I don't know if this family is connected to mine at all, but you never know! Thanks for the info. I will keep it in my files and see if I can find a connection at some point.

LAMBERTs in South Essex
don't have Hockleys, but do have lambert in my ancestry. I have a Martha Lambert, dau of John Lambert & Mary cook, christened 1820 in Matching, Essex. Probably too late unless she was older when baptised. Matching is south of Dunmow, amongst the Rodings in the Ongar Reg District. Thought it might be of interest.
