I am researching the Maundrill/Mandrill families, from Timsbury in Somerset, and have a John Ma(u)ndrill b1810/1811. I suspect he is the son of William Ma(u)ndrill, born around 1776-1781, and Sarah, b1787/1788. I was wondering if someone with easy access to the Timsbury parish records could confirm this for me? Please do not spend too much time on this.
Thanks
Jeremy

John Mundrill
Jeremy
John was baptised at Timsbury on 18 November 1810, the son of William & Sarah
He also married there, on 1 August 1832 to MAry Ann Escott
William was shown as age 60 in 1841 and died in Q2 1848, his wife appears to have been Sarah Cadby (born ca 1788 Devizes, Wilts) and they married at Devizes on 7 August 1806. She died in 1865.

Thanks for the information. All the additional details agree with the information I have so I can now link two large families together.
Out of interest, did the information come from a records office or from a personal CD? I ask as I have been looking at the Somerset CD sold by Archive CD's but it doesn't appear to include Timsbury. A CD would be useful to save me expensive trips to Somerset.
I visit Leeds library on a regular basis so if I can repay the favour please let me know.

Timsbury
Jeremy
The info came from someone who was offering a look up to Timsbury parish records, on film I assume, since it was 3 or 4 years ago.
My interests in the name were trying to see from whence it originated in Timsbury and where it coupled to the Maundrell spelling, The Somerset burial and marriage indxes would indicate that the name occurred in Timsbury from about 1750-1760 but by 1841 the only living family was that of Wlliam and Sarah
I'm slowly piecing together connections so any lines you have would be of interest but there's nothing specific in the Leeds RO I'm after.

Details I have show that William c1776-1848 had the surname Mandrill. This is also the case for all of his children that I found. Many, however, eventually appear as Maundrill. I also have one or two Maundrill's appearing with Maundrell.
As the pronunciation is so close, particularly with the West Country accent, it is possible that Maundrell and Maundrill derived from the same name or one from the other.
Now that Ancestory has all the BMD available, with images up to 1983 I am searching for all occurences of Maundrill and attempting to continue forward from 1901. I already have a number of possible links to people still living in West Yorkshire, in the Rothwell/Oulton area so I am going to write to them. I have also found large groupings in the Goole/Hull area and now in the Bradford area. Clutton and Bath is still going strong with Maundrills as well.
I will pm you my email, if it isn't visible, and we can continue with the exchange of the board.

MANDRILL
Hi,
The 1851 census for Timsbury Bottom shows my Mary TALBOT living in the household of Jacob MANDRILL (age 20), his brother Joseph (age 42!), Jacob's wife Jane and widow Sarah (age 63). Jacob and Joseph were born at Timsbury. Mary TALBOT's father lived next door.
