  1. Coneygar Lane Wesleyan Chapel Weymouth

I am looking for a photo of this chapel as my Gt Gt Grandfather John Edward WARREN was baptised there in 1837. Can anyone help or point me in the right direction? I believe it was demolished in 1867 so the chances are probably slim, but you never know!

  2. Non-Conformist Marriages

I have scanned here to see if I can find the answer to my question - no luck but that might be poor scanning skills! I have a whole bunch of people who were non-conformists and whose births and deaths show up in the non-parochial BMDs. One at least was a Quaker but I think later on some became...

  3. Wesleyan Baptisms

I'm trying to establish the age of a stone font which was installed in a Wesleyan Methodist Chapel, severely damaged in the blitz in 1942. The font was recovered almost intact from the ruins and subsequently transferred to a new Methodist Church in the area (now undergoing major refurbishment)....

  4. Methodist Local Preachers' Who's Who 1934

Thanks to a forum member who spotted my 'Who's Who in Methodism' thread I now have a copy of 'The Methodist Local Preachers' Who's Who 1934'. (Thanks again Hugh!!!) This is a very similar book to the 1933 book except that it's fatter! It contains the same sort of detail. There's also a short...

  5. Ogilvie Isle of Man

My ancestor Jane Ogilvie in 1806 married John Clarke, a trustee of the Athol St Congregational Church in Douglas. He was from Scotland, but she died in 1817, before I got any census info on her. One hunch: Could her dad be the John Ogilvie who was a Wesleyan minister posted to the Isle of Man in...

  9. Book - Quakers in Industry and Commerce

I have just today been looking through The Biographical Dictionary of Quakers in Industry and Commerce 1775-1920 by Edward Milligan. Definitely worth consulting if you have Quaker ancestors - might have saved me some work had I known about it a couple of years ago! I think it costs around...

Sarah Sargood, born abt 1759 married James Ring in 1787 in Beenham, Berkshire. Also, both of these candidates - Joseph and Benajmin - may be the sons of Joseph Sargood and...

  11. New Connexion Methodist Minister

I'm trying to trace my husband's g.g.grandfather Abraham Leach who was a New Connexion Minister in 1871. 16. Non-conformist query.

I have a few ancestors who I just cannot find trace of on records. I was reading a book on genealogy a while ago and it indicated that Non-conformists/quakers had separate records. Is this accurate or have I mis-interpreted it? If so how do I go about checking the records to see if my ancestors...

  20. I've forgot...

I used to know but cannot remember... when an individual is mentioned as a kinsman on a record (in this case a 1675 Quaker marriage, though much more common in wills) what is their relationship to the main person in the record? is it nephew? I just can't quite recall.
