My great grandfather was a wheelwright as were his brothers I think, in Suffolk. I have read on previous posts that a long apprenticeship was required. Is there somewhere I could access these apprenticeship records? I am referring to 1840 omwards. Thanks!

i am tracing my grandfathers stepfather : ernest coles b1893 mother elizabeth coles married george gibbs jewell b.1866 in 1899. they lived in richmond avenue ilfracombe and he worked in a furniture shop/repair . we believe elizabeth died in 1907 ,but have knowledge of george of his business ....

My 3X great grandfather was born in Manchester circa 1799 and is variously described in census returns and certificates as a master joiner, master carpenter and cabinet maker. Would he have been a member of a guild and if so, which one ? How can I find out more ? Josal
