    I have found my 2 Great Grandfather's military service record. He joined on 24th April 1877. On his Attestation papers it says "Did you receive a Notice and did you understand its meaning?" After which is written "Yes" What is meant by a "Notice" was he conscripted?? Thanks, Shaun.
