  1. Wapping Workhouse - 1871

    I have a chap who was described in the 1871 census as a Widower. This I think is possibly not true, as while I can't find his wife in 1871 census, she does show up in the 1881 census with her married son and his family. Were there 'requirements' for admission to this particular workhouse?
