The name of an Aunt of mine was Joyce Doreen Mahoney, maiden name Gray. She was 25 when she married my uncle in 1948. On the marriage certificate it states her father was Bertie George Gray, desceased.

Deciding to get her Birth certificate i found only one Joyce D Gray, December quarter 1923 Registration district West Ham. Vol. 4a page 701. I have now recieved a certificate for Joyce Lilian Gray father's name Henry William Gray. I've looked but unless i've missed it i can't find a Joyce Lilian Gray for the details i have. I've checked the Vol and page numbers and they are correct for Joyce D Gray.
Can anyone give their opinion as to what is going on or what to do, if anything now.

Hi all

Would someone please be able to take a photo of a parish marriage register entry at LDS from a microfilm when next visiting? I have the date of the marriage and place of marriage but I am unable to get to a LDS centre nor afford the marriage certificate copy at the moment.

Thank you.

Perhaps this is old hat to many of you but on Ancestry, among the London Poor Law records for St George the Martyr, Southwark is a Civil Registration Marriage Notice Book.

I have never seen one of these before! I didn't even know that any of them had made their way to county record offices.

This book is equivalent to the Banns Register in an Anglican church. The notices registered in it relate to all marriages in the district except Church of England marriages.

When you see a marriage "by Superintendent Registrar's Certificate", this is what it's all about.

I doubt if many people would find much genealogical use for this register but I thought it was interesting. But then I need to get out more
