On the 1891 England census, John Morris Wentworth Pilgrim is with his wife and children in Rochdale, Lancashire (RG12/3331/97/3). On the 1901 census, his wife is shown as a widow. There does not seem to be a death registration for him in the British Isles but there is an alleged family story, that he went to America and that he was killed during an argument over a card game.

Can anyone, with access to American records, please find any evidence to support this possibility?

He was born in 1856 in Cambridgeshire, England. Unfortunately, in the family story, there is no indication of whereabouts in America the incident might have happened.

Can anyone suggest ways & means to find a purported birth in Mississippi & a marriage most likely in Westchester, New York please?

Hello, British-Genealogy forums have been so very helpful in the past with your expertise, so here I go again.
I am looking for a death record or obituary for my g grandparents who both died in San Bernadino @ 1930. I am not sure how to go about obtaining this as I do not live in the area.
This is what I do know.
Charles Christian ( or Christian Charles) Schumaker b. Oct. 13, 1839 Herchen, Germany. Died Jan. 20, 1934 Ontario, San Bernadino, Calif. I would like to find out where he is buried and an obituary.
Anna Christina Gutzmer Schumacher b. Mar. 13, 1845, Doilice, Germany. She died between 1920 and 1930 ( she is on one census and not on the other). I would like to find her date of death, obituary, place of burial.
Any ideas on how I should go about finding these even though I am not in the area? Thanks for any suggestions! Meleanor
