Recently I was turning out a box of papers that had not seen the light of day for years and came across a newspaper cutting about which I had totally forgotton. It was sent to me without any indication of the paper from which it was taken, but the title is as above, and it is a list of passengers on two ships which sailed from Hull to Fort Cumberland. The first paragraph is ....
"On March 14th 1774, the ship 'Albion' sailed from Hull, England, to Fort Cumberland. This ship carried the first Yorkshire settlers to come to this area. Listed are the passengers and occupation."
A further list shows the passengers on the ship 'Jenny' which sailed from the same port on April 6th 1775.
My IT skills are not sufficient to send this as an attachment to the Forum (the thread on this subject might just as well be in Swahili for all the sense it makes to me), but if any interested person would care to e-mail me I will send a copy. That is, if I can manage to scan !!
