I am new to the forum. I have a relative that I'm trying to find out more information about. His name is Robert Fisher. His son (also named Robert) moved to London when he was young and ended up owning a number of photographic studios in the Kensington and Notting Hill area of London.

Robert Jr. was born in St. Coulomb and we believe his father was Robert Fisher who was born in Bodmin in 1797 and married Margaret Colwell. They had three children - two died very young (George & Mary) and Robert Jr. survived.

My Parents visited St. Columb Major and saw the gravemarkers behind a church. They found the area quite nice.

Robert may have been an artist - painting brooches. This is just a guess. I know that Robert Jr. was doing that in London before he started photograhy. In a book on photography, it said that Robert Jr. came from a family of artists.

Thank you for your help. This looks like a very well organized site. I am happy to find it.

I live in Salt Lake City, Utah (No, I'm not LDS!) and have found much of my information at the Family History Library here.

Maybe I can help a little here. :) Robert Fisher married Margaret Colwell on 18 Jul 1819 in St Columb Major. She was the daughter of John Colwill and Mary Truscott married 14 Apr 1782 in St Columb Major. Margaret died in February 1852 in St Columb Major and she was already a widow by then. Her son Robert was an apprentice Cabinetmaker in 1841 and by 1851 had left the area. His Father Robert was an Auctioneer in 1841. I do have Colwill ancestry if you would like it.

Thank you very much for the information! I would love more information on the Colwill family history. I would also like to know if there are any other Fishers in the area Corwall area previous to 1797.

Warm regards,
