Looking for descendants of this couple.
George Arthur HOWELL was born Bristol, England about 1833 - 1836.
Married Irish girl, Mary Ann McLoughlan 7 August 1855 at South Australia.

George and Mary Ann had their first child, Susan, in Victoria on 27 July 1857 before going to Tasmania. Next born 13 Oct 1858 was John, followed by Edwin, Esther Maria (my line), George Arthur, Mary Ann, Sarah and Ellen (Nellie); the family then returned to Victoria where Minnie was born 25 Sep 1871.

Names associated with this family:
HARTEGAN, SIMKINS / SIMPKINS, BUCKLEY, BROWN, CROCKER, ROURKE
According to death certificates John and Minnie did not marry. It is uncertain what happened to Susan, who was still living according to parents death certificates.

Christine :)

Hello Christine

In the late 1890s Fred, Harry and James Simpkins emigrated to Victoria. All were from Bath in Somerset. Fred was a selector and settled in Shady Creek. Harry stuck to Melbourne and James seems to have lived an unhappy life also in Melbourne.

I'd be glad to hear from you if any of this means anything to you.

Regards

Hello Geoffrey

My John Goodman SIMKINS, a mariner, was born abt 1823 Dartmouth, Devonshire, supposedly the son of a Richard and Mary. He married in Melbourne, 1854; died 1868 in the Melbourne Hospital. I then 'lost' his wife, who probably remarried - Mary nee TURTON. The son John Henry married Esther HOWELL. The 'P' was added to the name with their offspring.

Sadly, I see no connection to your SIMPKINS - were they the ones over in the Western District of Victoria? I haven't established if they connect to mine as yet. I have no idea where Shady Creek was/is.

Christine :)
