Henry CORY of Cranworth

Seeking baptismal details and family of Henry CORY baptised 29th December 1794 at Cranworth, Norfolk. Henry later became a Thames Waterman and was bound to Thomas Corsan at Wapping 26th January 1809.

Hi Jim,
I am intrigued to how you have a baptismal date but don't seem to know the parents. Looking for Henry Cory I found the following information. A Henry Corrie is baptised on the same date you quoted ie 29th Dec 1794 but he is recorded as being at Crosthwaite Cumberland and the son of Jonah Corrie & Elizabeth Hodgson. There is a Henry Cory in Norfolk but it gives his baptism at Great Yarmouth 1 Aug 1798. He is the son of Robert Cory & Esther Riches.

Just spotted your reply to my posting. The baptism date came from his waterman's apprenticeship affidavit. Unfortunately this document does not record parents only place and date of birth and baptism. I have since learned that Henry was the illegitimate son of Mary CORY of Cranworth.
