could my ancester have been in the forces?

I have found my GGGgrandfather Andrew Want on the 1861 71 81 91 1901 census's but he appears to be missing from the 1851. he was born in Oakley Hampshire in 1834, so would have been 17/18 in 1851. could he have been in the Forces and if so how do i find out?

Any help would be most gratefull

Hi Lynda

Thanks for finding this for me, I've spent ages on Ancestry trying to find him with no luck. So much for their transcriptions. The searches for andrew want came up with nothing as did andrew from church Oakley and want from church oakley!!!!!
