Does anyone have any info on:
Samuel Clough (1800 till 11th Feb 1875, buried St Oswalds Church, Backford, Cheshire on 14th Feb 1875), or his wife:
Martha (1792 till 5th Oct 1880, buried St Oswalds Church, Backford, Cheshire on 8th Oct 1880)?
Any info on places of birth, parents names, Martha's maiden name, marriage date and place, etc..
Thanks

I think I may have found Martha's maiden name as being 'Tasker' as on the I.G.I. there is a record of a Samuel Cluff marrying a Martha Tasker on 10 May 1822 at St Oswald, Chester (is there a St Oswald church in Chester or could it be St Oswalds Church at Backford?). Also, in the 1851 Census there is a lodger living with Samuel and Martha called 'John Tasker' (no relationship given), widower, born at Upton, Cheshire, around 1758.
Can anyone confirm or give any further light on this?
Thanks

I can take a look at the Backford burials to see if Samuel is there and I can also check out the Chester marriage.

Thanks UKsearch. I know he is burried at St Oswalds Church in Backford because I have been there and seen his grave stone (he is burried with Martha and some of his sons). As for the offer to look at the marriage records, I would appreciate that, thanks.

Well I can't argue with that:) . I didn't see your reply till after I checked, but no harm done as it only took a couple of minutes to find it. The marriage details are not very helpful.
St Oswald, Chester

UK,
Thanks a lot for your time and help.
Whether these are my Samuel and Mary although the Cluff (Clough) and Tasker would sound right, I would need more proof to be satisfied. Any suggestions? Anyone??
