From Annie Ford's marriage certificate (1909 in Rotherhithe) I have her age as 27 and her father as Cornelius Ford.

Can anyone help track this family.

Thanks in anticipation
Martin

Hi Martin :)

It would help to narrow the search a little if you provide some more details from the certificate. Addresses, occupations etc
There's also the chance that although Annie married in Rotherhithe, her origins could have been elsewhere.

best wishes
Lynda

Hi Lynda,

Thank you for your interest. From my grandparent's marriage certificate I have the following information:-

Married on 25 April 1909 at St Mary, Rotherhithe, London.
District St Olave Bermondsey, Vol 1d, Page 375

George Henry Forder, age 39 bachelor, millhand, 222 Rotherhithe Street.
His father William Forder, labourer.

Annie Ford, age 27, spinster, 222 Rotherhithe Street.
Her father Cornelius Ford, labourer.

My father has said that Annie was "in service" prior to getting married and that he thinks she was of Irish origin.

My cousin thinks she was brought up in a convent and that she did not know her own birthday so took the King's birthday as her own. He also thinks Cornelius might be her brother and that he was in the Irish Guards.

He is following up an Annie and Cornelius Ford at Barton Regis in Bristol, Gloucester.

For my part I have found the following:-

1891 Census
Annie Ford, Boarder, female, age 9, From Barnardo's Home, London

Alternately:
1881 Census
Dwelling 10 Half Moon Passage, London, Middlesex
Cornelius Ford; Head, M, male, 36, born Kerry Ireland, general labourer.
Julia; Wife, M, female, 38, born Cork Ireland.
Patrick, Son, 13, born Westminster, Middlesex.
Michael, Son, 11, ditto.
Ellen, Daughter, 9, ditto.
Mary, Daughter, 7, ditto.
Annie. Daughter, 4, ditto.

I have not managed to find this family on any other census.

Apart from the five year age difference either of these two could qualify but I don't know how to progress the search.

Regards Martin.
