Yesterday i noticed that Google has a new "face" or "look". Aol did ponder this look a while back but reverted to the original look. Has anyone else got this as i find the new look irritating and not half as easy to read through quickly as the "old look" |rant|

Hi Trish

Em.......cant describe it really. If i could cut and paste i would ! All i can say is its blue and green and skinny  Whereas the old look is just blue and black and chunky !
I dont like this at all and wonder why i have it and you dont ! They did do this before all i can say is i hope they change mine back as i cant get used to it at all.

"i find the new look irritating and not half as easy to read through quickly as the "old look""

I haven't noticed any difference. Could the answer to your problem be to stop using AOL?

If i stopped using aol i would no longer have my email address which is as important to me now as my phone number  Even if i wanted to ive got another 3 months contract on it. Google is my problem and if that persists i will have to and try to find another easier search engine.

Google looks the same tonight as it's done for ages.

Do both http://www.google.com and http://www.google.co.uk look the same for you?

I have just looked at google and it is the same as always for me too - perhaps you have accidently altered a setting on your browser - if you have a mouse with a little wheel between the buttons you could have moved it while pressing the shift key or whatever and changed the size of the screen or the definition or whatever the heck it is - sorry to be so technical here - I did that once and everything went very tall for a while until my dear computer literate friend jiggled it back again.

...All i can say is its blue and green and skinny...Tracey, what I see -- and it hasn't changed in recent memory -- are blue and red and yellow and green letters not black and blue. And I wouldn't call them chunky!

...i find the new look irritating and not half as easy to read through quickly as the "old look"...So the actual display of hits looks different?

Is there a special AOL browser? If so and you're using it, try dumping it and using something standard.

Tracey, I'm with AOL and Google looks the same to me....I think it must be something that's got `switched' off on your PC. But....what do I know, I'm not a technophobe. ;)

The "I'm Feeling Lucky" box has been there for years! It all looks the same to me, except of course that today all the Google lettering is dressed in Hallowe'en costume - they do tend to mark special occasions in this way, which is sometimes a good reminder of what the date is!!

Yes, I have noted some changes

Only minor but it could be they are in the process of changing the look of the Site. Maybe more on the way.

Maybe i am getting confused. AOL use Google as a search engine. I am now thinking that aol are using the actual Google page instead of there own look for the results ? I went onto Google using www. and their page is the one i am now seeing on aol, if this is making sence  I clicked the im feeling lucky button as i also had never seen this before and it was no more lucky for me than the original queery

I wished they would inform users of changes or as they put it "enhanced features". I can only hope they change it back to how it was.

Yep, looks just as Sue says, and if it hadn't been for the Hallowe'en costume I wouldn't have remembered that tomorrow was November :o

You're surprised Ann! Are spooks about or what! I read your message, clicked my Google link in My Favorites, got it and typed my name in the box.

After clicking the "I'm feeling lucky" button, I got your Profile here at BG Forums!

Oh! I never clicked on the "I'm feeling lucky" button before because I thought that it would take me to a silly gambling web site and that I would end up with a load of ad pop-ups :o

As for the appearance and results pages, they all look the same as they always did except for the Hallowe'en bits, regardless of whether I enter google.ca, google.co.uk or google.com :D

Heehee Diane! This is really silly! I entered my own name and clicked on I'm Feeling Lucky and it took me to a Century 21 (real Estate) web site, with a piccie of a lovely big house.

Oooh! I should've bought a lottery ticket. Some of the ones they have over here have big homes for prizes.

Well I tried typing in Sue Mackay and hitting "I'm feeling lucky" but it preferred the Tasmanian politician of the same name - even the same middle name (but a tad younger!!)

The Wikpedia site I was sent to had this sentence: "She reigned from politics in July, 2005." I take it there's an 's' missing,or is this some secret Australian desire to have 'republican reigns'!!

BTW, I never normally use the "I'm Feeling Lucky" button. It only ever takes you to the top site on the search list, which is often not the best one, and even if it is you often see another good site further down if you bring up the list.

I think we must be soul mates, as I come up with someone who belongs to the American Fantasy and Sci-Fi Art Gallery at Elfland

Put the pair of us together and we would be floating on another planet.....

I put my name in and got an entry that I had put onto another forum 3 years ago searching for my Naish family! That was via `I'm feeling lucky' which I had tried before, but not with my name.

If I put my name in the ordinary search, it brings up all of the posts I've made in various forums, and my web site. Luckily with my names, I haven't found a `twin'!

Now this is why I am not a teacher, I put Ann Macey into the box and I wondered if everyone would get what I got if they too put Ann Macey into the box - still it was interesting to read the results and I am slightly envious of Mary Elms getting a whole place when she did it but Diane getting my profile here when she put in Hmmmm scarey! must have been the date that did it.

'I'm feeling lucky' brings up the most requested site for that search. It used to work well for 'Weapons if Mass destruction', coming up with a page saying 'Weapons of mass destruction cannot be found'. I think it still works for 'French Military Victories' - then click on th offered link!
