The 1901 Census shows my Great Grandfather as being born in an area called Hadden Hall Cheshire.

I have looked on current maps and the web pages but without success on locating this area.

Can anybody help me in its location within Cheshire

This may be leading up completely the wrong path - but .....!
Are you sure it is Cheshire? There is Haddon Hall near Bakewell in Derbyshire.
Not a million miles away ...!

If you post the 1901 census details for your great grandfather we may be able to work out where Hadden Hall is near.

It is Hadnall, Shropshire. I guessed that it was your paternal line & found Joseph Wycherley & family in Widnes in the 1901 census. Although the birthplace of Joseph & his wife Elizabeth was written as Hadden Hall Cheshire on the 1901 census, on the 1891 census Elizabeth is still with the family & she gives her place of birth as Hadnall, Salop. I think at that time Joseph the father may be in prison in Staffordshire. In 1871 Joseph & Elizabeth clearly have their place of birth as Hadnal Salop.

Joseph's mother-in-law, Jane Bailey is with the family in the 1871 census. Let me know if you need the details.

Hi Geoff,
I believe I have the answer you're looking for.
Haddon Hall or Haddon hall farm as it is now know is situated near Neston, I canr remember the roads name but it's in Wirral on your way to North Wales from Liverpool. Very near to Liverpool Uni's Ness Gardens.
The hall was once owned by the Grundy family and before that my distant relatives of the Stelfox family. More info I believe is held at the Chester Records office.
Cheers, Alex.
