woodside/aphtar ?

i am searching for the birth of my g.g.g. grandfather, he is listed as being born in staffordshire on both the 1861 & 1871 census but in two different places aphtar and woodside. i can't find any such places in staffordshire. any help apprieciated

Using http://www.old-maps.co.uk/ I was able to locate Woodside, which also appears on www.streetmap.co.uk (http://www.streetmap.co.uk) It looks like an isoltaed building, or farm.

I can't locate a place called Aphtar, but could this be Apeton? Apeton turns up on both the above sites and is not too far from Woodside.

thanks for your help. i think apeton is the place he was born although i can't find his actual birth, on his marriage certificate there is no father listed and has he was born in 1842 i can only assume that he was never registered.
