My Gt Gt grandfather had a book of poems published.............
The Queen Martyr, and other poems by William Donaldson, Elgin: J. McGillivray & Son, 1867. I know The British Library has a copy along with The National Library of Scotland. They are happy to copy this at considerable cost. Does anyone know where i might try to get an original copy of this assuming any survived ?
I am thinking of paying the silly costs to the libraries but there is nothing like the real thing and if it cost as much would rather have the original :)

Hiya Tracey,
If you have any 'old-fashioned' booksellers in your area they may have the contacts to find a copy for you. You could try the dreaded e-bay of course!

Tracey,

there are book dealers out there who specialise in finding books for people. Their fees are generally reasonable and most work on a "no find no fee" basis.
Unless your g/father was very popular it's not likely to cost that much either.
I think your best first step would be to google for Hay on Wye and contact one of the book finders you'll find there.
