The 1851 census of Chester lists William Stubbs age 52 bn Stokesay, his wife Lucy (we know is Lucy Jones) age 42 bn Brookside, Shrops. Has anyone any connections to, or information on, this couple. I can find Stokesay on the map but where is Brookside?
William is my Gt Gt Grnd Father.

http://www.old-maps.co.uk/
select county gazetteer, then Shropshire, and Brookside. Look to the bottom of the screen and you'll see a link to display an enlarged view.
If you want to get an idea of where that is in the county, go to www.streetmap.co.uk (http://www.streetmap.co.uk/) and search using the place name Tweedale ('cos there's only one of them, it makes it easy). On the map displayed, you'll see Brookside is just north of Tweedale. Use the zoom facility to pull out to a smaller scael, and you'll see an arrow near Madeley on the south side of Telford.
