According to the 1851 Middlesex Census (Piece 1699 Fo 351 pg6) William Goodwin was born about 1809 in Kew, Surrey. In the IGI there is an entry for William Goodwin birth on September 13, 1811 in Kew with the parents listed as John and Mary Goodwin. There is a John and Mary Goodwin adjacent to the William Goodwin family in both the 1841 and 1851 censuses and they are of the right age to be William's parents. I would like to find further proof that the John and Mary Goodwin listed in the 1841 and 1851 censuses are indeed William Goodwin's parents. I do not live in the UK and would appreciate advice on how to proceed with find further proof. How would I obtain a register of birth for this period? I've attempted looking for a marriage certification for William John Goodwin and his wife, Martha Merret; however, they were apparently married in Old Brentford (Middlesex) around 1835 and I've been led to believe there were changes in the record keeping for that area that may make finding that record difficult.
Any guidance at all is much appreciated!
