I am new here, so Hello guys.

My CD burner is 3 years old. I've been coping my data every four months over the past three years. Did it succesfully with no problems. Last burn was April this year and copied 647MB.

Yesterday, I started to do a burn and got a message saying " not enough space on disc ", the data was 719MBs. When I tried the 2nd time a message asked if I wanted to apply EndTrack. So I thought better say Yes so I'll copy 90% of my data.

After 2 minutes the burn process stopped. I get a message " medium speed error "

When I tried the 3rd time the message was " Invalid writestate " plus " Could not perform EndTrack"

After many tries I decided to just copy the Photos only. This was done succesfully, about 210MBs.

I picked a new disc (CD --RW) and tried to copy my Docs with 9 folders plus few hundred Files. 138MBs.

Again, the action kept failing after two minutes. Tried again many times. No good.

Then I tried just coping the 9 Folders only. About 160MBs. I tried doing this many times but I could only copy one Folder 2MBs. The first one on the list. Done this twice with same result

Tried to search for what " EndTrack " means in the Help List but this is not listed.

I'm baffled why I was successful in coping the photos and not the rest.
Must have tried a hundred times changing this and that but same result.

I'm not clued up at all at how these contrapions work. One thing, sometimes when you insert the disc the thing starts 'whirring' around but other times there's no such noise.

I have a Nero Just Link 24x10x40x

Can anyone throw some light as what the fault is. Thanks.

Hi, I had a similar experience with Nero after I updated my Home edition of XP to SP2. Nero has a known issue with this so I updated from the Nero website and this seemed to cure the problem. Suggest you check the Nero website for an update if you are using Windows XP.

Hope this is of use to you. good luck

Hello David

Thanks for your reply
I thought I'll let you know what took place. In the past I used CD-R but I did use a few CD - RW too. Every day this week I kept trying to burn the 3rd batch of files, about 15MBs. This was after I was lucky to copy / burn my photos and 2nd a large group of Files. This was done on CD - RW. Must have tried 50 times.
After that, the thing just went total stupid. After reading your message I got stuck in Google and found many Sites offering help. Some had very lenghty messages and not to the point. One guy said that he had a very similar happening and was told not to use the CD - RW dics, just use the CD - R.

I had some of these but stopped using them a good while back. So I grabbed one and 'bingo' went like a dream. What a relief !

We'll see what happens next time.

Thanks. Bill.
