Hi we have ancestors, resulting in the marriage of David Turnbull & Isabella Stewart, both of Dundee in 1823. They had seven children (David 1826, John, William, Helen 1835, Isabella.. George.,) the last one born in Edinburgh in the 1840s, and they then moved to Durham area & Northumberland. David the father was a carpenter then shipwright.
I have traced a line of the family down to today through Helen, who married Thomas Miller, as well as a possible line for David, and would be interested in contacting any other descendants of any of the other lines, or anyone with further information.

P.S.

another quandry we have is my ggggfather was David Turnbull Stewart. According to the 1861 English census he was born in Scotland circa 1826. We can't locate him. However, his mother, according to their tombstone in Jesmond, Northumberland, was named Isabella Stewart Turnbull. (1801-1862ish).
According to the Newcastle Courant newspaper, in her obituary, she was the wife of David Turnbull.
So we can't figure out why his mother has a different surname from him, and his and her names are reversed-TS & ST.
He always claimed to be the eldest in the line of Stewarts for many generations, but we can also find no record of his marriage, under that name, in UK.

We can find a marriage of a David Turnbull (specifically, David White Ridley Turnbull) to a namesake of our ggggmother (Frances Middleton)in 1848 in Newcastle upon Tyne. But this DWRTurnbull does not appear again anywhere we could find in UK under that name or those initials.
