Hi Searcher
Scotlands people is the place to search for Scottish ancestors. It is a pay per view site but once registered you can do as many searches as you want before you pay any money.
I have just been on the site, selected 'search 1901', typed in SAMSON & selected Falkirk from the District list. It gave me 7 hits (you can get the maximum of 25 hits on one page). I couldn't 'view' the actual index for these 7 people as I had run out of the time allowed on my credits.
If you decide to use this site then take the time to look at 'What's in the Database' & 'Help & Resources' first, even before you register. It costs 6GBP for 30 units which you can use for 7 days, any unused credits are held over until you pay your next 6GBP - this means if you have 5 credits left at the end of your 7 days then the next time you pay you will have 35 credits instead of 30.
Searches are free, viewing each index page is 1 credit & viewing an image is 5 credits.
Some people like myself have found this site very useful whilst others, especially those with a common surname in Scotland, have found it a waste of money. You will be able to make a judgement after you have read their pages for yourself.
Good luck
Sally
