Hiya everybody

Can anyone help me further this please.

Grace Lilian WATSON married Ernest Thornton 1925.
I believe Grace's father was William. But this is as far as I have got.

Margaret COOPER married Edward Thornton 1900????
Believe Margaret had a brother William and her Father was called Thomas.

I just cannot find anything.

Thanks

Scooby :)

...Margaret COOPER married Edward Thornton 1900????
Believe Margaret had a brother William and her Father was called Thomas...Wow! You're giving us some tough challenges, aren't you?

There's this record on the civil registration index for England and Wales:

Marriage: December Qtr 1889 Chester
COOPER, Margaret
THORNTON, Edward

Volume 8a Page 639

And, in the 1901 census, the following:

Address: Great Sanghall*, Cheshire
Edward THORNTON Head 37 ?Carter [word obscured by other markings] on farm born Cheshire, Sanghall*
Margaret THORNTON Wife 36 born Cheshire, Sanghall*
Edith THORNTON Dau 10 Scholar born Cheshire, Sanghall*
Edward THORNTON Son 8 Scholar born Cheshire, Sanghall*
Ernest THORNTON Son 6 born Cheshire, Sanghall*
Herbert THORNTON Son 4 born Cheshire, Sanghall*
Elinor M. THORNTON Daur 2 born Cheshire, Sanghall*
Henry THORNTON Son 1 born Cheshire, Sanghall*
William COOPER Boarder [Single] 40 Plate Layer - Railway born Cheshire, Sanghall*

*transcribed as Sanghall but probably correctly spelled Saughall.

And at the post office nearby, there are more COOPERs:

Address: Post Office, Cheshire
John T. WHALEY Head 44 Baker/Shopkeeper with wife and 4 children
Ellen COOPER Servant 15 Domestic born Gt Sanghall

Address: Post Office, Cheshire
George COOPER Head 58 General Labourer born Gt Sanghall Chester
Sarah COOPER Wife 60 born Gt Sanghall Chester

Possible match for your Margaret COOPER in 1871:

Ann COOPER Wife 33 Domestic Duties born Flintshire Hope
William COOPER Son 10 born Cheshire Gt. Saughall
Sarah COOPER Daur 8 born Cheshire Gt. Saughall
Margaret COOPER Daur 6 born Cheshire Gt. Saughall

Possible match for Thomas COOPER in 1861:

Address: Shotwick, Cheshire
William COOPER Head 44 Gardener born Hawarden Flintshire
Mary COOPER Wife 33 born Hope Flintshire
Thomas COOPER Son 22 Ag Labourer born Gt Saughall Cheshire
George COOPER Son 18 Ag Labourer born Gt Saughall Cheshire
Margaret COOPER Daur 13 Scholar born Gt Saughall Cheshire
Thomas COOPER Grandson 3 Scholar born Gt Saughall Cheshire
Sarah COOPER Daur 2 Scholar born Gt Saughall Cheshire

Reference: RG9/2633 Folio 13 Page 10

Misc. comments: Judging by her age, Mary must have been William's second wife and stepmother to his older children. As for the grandson, young Thomas, it's not apparent from the census image if the elder Thomas or George could be his father. Both young Thomas and Sarah are listed as scholars even though they are only 3 and 2 respectively.
