Could SKS who has access to the parish records for Caxton look up a possible birth/baptism for John FORDHAM around 1804. He was listed aged 47 in the 1851 census born Caxton (I hope), Cambridgeshire, although by then he was well away from home. I have checked Carlton (just in case) and cannot find a suitable baptism there.

TIA,

Heatha.

Many thanks, Wirral. I have access to the 1841 and 1851 Cambridgeshire census indices and the 1851 census transcription. It appears that John moved to London when he as quite young. His first child was born in Shoreditch in 1831 (approx.). In 1851 he was a grocer.

So I'm still looking for his baptism!

Thanks again,

Heatha.

Found a John Fordham, age 35, bricklayer, living in Fen Drayton in 1841. He is listed as not born in County. (FORDHAM John 35 Fen Drayton HO107/70/5 5B)

Thanks Debbie, but it must be a different John FORDHAM as the one I am looking for was definitely in London by 1841.
