I see this post was made in 2005. Are you still looking for Linterns?
My ggrandmother was Emily Lintern 1828 Marston Magna, (who lived to 102 yrs), and my gggrandmother was Frances (Fanny) Lintern 1803 Weston Bamfylde, though there is no known connection between the two - yet.

My Great Great Grandmother was Sarah Lintern (1834-1921) , of Ditcheat, Somerset. She was the daughter of William Lintern and Mary Hayward . She married William Allen in 1860,moved to Stoneleigh in Warwickshire around 1855, and died in 1921 in Coventry. Sarah was the sister of Daniel,Jane, William, John, and Elizabeth. She and William had 5 children, William, Albert, MaryJane, George ,and Sarah .(George was my Great Grandfather).

I have found your family on a transcript of Ditcheat parish records. Had you noticed there are two baptisms, one for Sarah Ann 14 May 1834 and another for Sarah 27 Jun 1834, both with parents William and Mary, father labourer. This may be a transcription error, of course.
There could be a connection between our families, but I have only recently begun to try to unravel the Linterns. There are so many of them and many share the same names. However, I am going to the Somerset Record Office next week and hope to make some progress.
I have discovered that Frances Lintern 1803 may have been born in North Cadbury, not Weston Bamfylde.

Hi Lorna, I hadn't noticed the error, but thanks for pointing it out !!
I also have a transcript of Ditcheat parish records ,and am trying, slowly to cross match the marriages, with subsequent children , and parents , and ages at marriage to find approx birthdates. Finally to see if they are on the Burial Index, and age at death to ensure correct person . Very long winded, but hopefully accurate ??
I hope your visit to the Record Office is fruitful, please keep me posted !

Lesley,
I had quite a successful visit to Somerset RO and found many Linterns connected to my tree. One was father of Emily 1828, Matthew Lintern 1796 Ditcheat = Susan/Susannah.
Since then I have been in touch with a person who shares my ggggrandmother Francis Lintern. She kindly did some hunting on my behalf and found Matthew's parents, Nicholas Lintern 1773 Ditcheat & Margaret Barnard 1775 m 19 Dec 1795 Ditcheat, plus his six siblings. Thomas Lyntorn 1752 was father of Nicholas and there is a possible marriage for him to Betty Rimes, 1764 Ditcheat. This will need some double checking at SRO.
It looks as though your William may have been a contemporary of my Matthew though they were not siblings, but may have been cousins. I'll have another look when I have time.

Hi again Lorna ,
I'm back from hols, and thank you for the info ! Have you tried to access the Ditcheat Parish Records ? Try www.math.mun.ca - go to page 5 (Members web sites), look for Roy Parkhouse 's site, then enter Ditcheat . I found a lot of stuff that I can cross reference , albeit slowly and methodically but hopefully accurate (It's the Genuki site of transcribed Parish Registers from Ditcheat ).Maybe we are able to go straight to Genuki, but this site was recommended by a colleague ......and there are many Linterns , and Rimes too . Please let me know how you get on with it ...
Regards, Lesley

Am I missing something? I couldn't find page 5 (Members Web sites). Do I have to register? The transcripts I have been looking at are only extracted records including Linterns and associated families, so I would like to view the records you have found on this site. I'll have a look at Genuki tomorrow.
Regards, Lorna
