Hi,

I'm new to researching in the London/Middlesex area, and live nowhere near London. I'd therefore really appreciate it if anyone going to the LMA could spare a little time to look up four baptism entries for me please?

The details I have are from the IGI, and are:

Saint Mary - St Marylebone Road, Saint Marylebone, London

Matilda Frances Kirk - 9th November 1840
Augusta Kirk - 29 March 1843
Ferdinand Robert Kirk - 1st June 1845
Arthur Kirk - 7th September 1847

In each case the parents are John and Charlotte Kirk.

I hope I'm not asking for too much here. I know I ought to buy the birth certificates but funds won't allow at the moment so any supplemental information from the baptism entry would be a huge help to me.

Thank you in advance,

Jo.

Hi Jo

I was at the LMA today and treid to do the look up for you.

Unfortunately the films were not in the draws for that period and have to be ordered. As I was running out of lunch hour I could not put in the order, wait and then do the look up. I will give it a go another day but do not be surprised if the information comes in bits as I only have my lunch hours to do the look ups.

Hi Jo

This is what I have got for you:

9 November 1840 Matilda Frances Kirk Daugter of John & Charlotte of 43 High Street Tailor D.O.B. 1 October 1840

29 March 1843 Augusta - same parents and address D.O.B. 11 November 1842

1 June 1845 Ferdinand - same parents and address D.O.B. 16 December 1844

7 September 1847 Arthur - same parents and address D.O.B. 6 April 1847

If you want the mother's maiden name you will need to get one of the certificates Baptism register does not give that. I did also look at the Baptism day book to see if there was any extra information but it was just the same.

Hi Stuart,

Firstly a huge apology for not replying sooner to thank you - I've had computer problems and been offline for a while and am now trying to catch up.

You've given me an occupation for John, and an address so I may be able to find a census entry for him now.

I'd held off getting a certificate as money is a bit tight and this family are not direct ancestors, but a sideshoot of my tree. However I'm intrigued by them as they are the only members of my family (including recent history) who have moved to the London area, and the name Ferdinand is frankly quite outrageous for my family.

So once again many thanks for your help - it is very much appreciated.

Jo.
