Without an exact date,it could take a long time to search the PRs.The dates you give are, at best, guesstimates by the person(s) compiling the IGI entries. The PRs in this time frame at St Mary's Stockport are not the easiest to read AND baptisms and burials are lumped together in the order that they occurred.

On FamilySearch, I found a marriage date of 27 May 1798 in Cheadle, Cheshire. I would suggest that you obtain a copy - it may give you other information. I also found a christening record for Hannah Cofey for 17 May 1778 at Cathedral, Manchester, Lancashire, England. Parents' names are John Cofey and Hannah. There is also a christening of a John Coppey on 22 July 1781 also at Cathedral, Manchester, Lancashire, England. Father's name John, mother's not given. It could be that Coffey was read as Coppey... And Manchester isn't all that distant from Stockport. Hope this helps.

If the question is directed at me...I got the information from films of the Parish Registers held at Manchester Central Library following the details kindly posted by DebbieAnn.It would be very unusual to find details of parents on marriage PR in 1798.If you knew where he was baptised it might be possible to find the baptismal PRs.That may give the names of both parents.
