Hello,
I am delving into the family history. The Padget(t) family lived in Howden and in 1861 I have traced my great great grandfather -William Howden married to sarah(nee Powell) .They had eight childen some of whom (including my great grandfather) moved to Kent and I have traced them. Of the remaining family I an find no trace post 1861 census. The two daughters (Esther and Sarah born abt 1839 and 1851 respectively) could of course married or moved into service but to date I can find no trace of any possible marriages-or indeed of the two girls in any subsequent censuses. Of the two sons who did not apparently move to Kent-Sam(born 1844 and Charles born 1855) there is no trace at all since 1861. Likewise I cannot find any death records for the parents.
Can anyone sugeest my net move-I am stumped-unfortunately I am living abroad and am unable to visit the Howden area to research parish registers etc etc
Thanks-in hopeful anticipation
Ann

Hi Ann,

When you say you can find no trace of marriages or deaths where have you looked?

If on Free BMD that is far from complete.

If you haven't already it might be worth trying one of the pay per view commercial companies perhaps such as:

I am also stumped in tracing my Padgett relatives. I don't think our histories overlap but the off chance they do, I thought I would share the information that I have. My great, great great grandfather was Joseph Padgett (b. 1808). In the census records, his last name is often spelled with one "t". He married Esther (b. 1810) and they had a daughter Sarah Ann Padgett (b. 1839). Sarah married James Stedman Harwood; they are buried in Lister Lane Cemetery. I am trying to track down Esther's last name and find out where she came from.
