I am looking for any information on the Pepper family from Nottinghmamshire. Edward Pepper (1797 Sibthorpe-1873 SOuthwell) and Ann (1800-1874). Potentially Edward's father could be James Pepper who married Mary Pennington in 1785, but I am not sure and would love to tie them in and also go further. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

In 1841 census, Edward & Ann are in Syerston, next village to Sibthorpe. I have ancestors for an adjacent village, Flintham. Will post details once i have put them all together. See you soon!

1841
HO107/853/5 p6 f6 Flintham
Elizabeth Pepper 70 single w [this was crossed out by the enumator as it was not an occupation. It could mean that she was unmarried, or could mean that she was living alone - she was actually the only occupant of that house]

HO107/853/5 p3 f5 Cuthole House, Flintham
Francis Curtis 50 farmer N
Mary Curtis 45
Catharine Curtis 15
Thomas Dabell 20 M.S. [male servant]
William Pepper 11 M.S.
Elizabeth Fleeman 15 F.S. [female servant]
Sarah Marshall 15 F.S.

NB, all ages 15+ were supposed to be rounded down to the nearest 5 years. Some weren't & the enumerator gave the exact ages. This enumerator seems to have rounded down.

From Notts FHS Marriage Index:

26 Nov 1820 Edward PEPPER married Ann GREEN at Farndon
3 May 1823 Edward PEPPER married Ann SHEPHERD at Stapleford

As Farndon is only 2/3 miles from Syerston & Sibthorpe it looks worth investigating.
