hello yet again,i have a problem that i can't find any anawer.
harry jenkins born 22/10/1910
married 23/9/1939 at aston church
his widow is alive but my nephew says that she doesn't remember details
he has been told that harry was born in canada,is there any canadian index i can check to find his where he was born.my nephew said the family wasn't in canada long.
can any one help meplease

A Harry Jenkins, age 9, with mother Minnie Jenkins age 30, brother Mathew age 6 and sister Murlel age 4 (all born in England), crossed on the Cunard Line from Canada into Michigan U.S.A. in May 1922, headed to Kellogg, Idaho, U.S.A. Last residence S Porcupine Next of kin in England: "Mathew Nettle, S Day, England". This suggests this family could have emigrated from England to Canada while (this) Harry was quite young. Is this perhaps your Harry? The age on the manifest isn't an exact match, but it's not far off and it might have been the purser's best guess.

Canada is BIG and sadly, civil registration is by province. Can you specify (if you know): the country / province / etc where the family (Harry/widow) lived/live? Is "aston church" the name of a church or of a city/town? Do you know the province and, if a church, do you have any guesses as to the religion concerned (I realize you don't have much to go on)? the 1911 canada census is out - you may find that in canada there were census's every 5 years other then then the regular 10. check for not only him but for mother, father ect...

In Ontario, there are 2 Henry Jenkins, on the 1911 Canadian census, one in Hamilton West in Ontario (Ward 4) - he is 6 months old (i.e. born Dec. 1910 in Ontario); and another in Wellington County South, Erin Township - he is 5 mos old (i.e. born in Jan. 1911 in Ontario). This I got from Automated Genealogy -- handy because you can do searches and then actually look at the scans.

BUT, I have only searched in Ontario. There are 9 other provinces!! So, you really need to try and get a fix on WHERE he might have been born, or where they lived - as in, which province. Without that, you will have a difficult time finding out anything about him, particularly if he wasn't born in Ontario (one of the most populous provinces).

You might try asking someone with A*** privileges if they would search the Ontario Births index for you, but again, that's ONLY Ontario.

Mehtinks you need to have a wee chat with his widow, and see if there is anything at all that she remembers.

The only other thing I can suggest is to look at his death certificate and see if it says anything about where he was born. Does his marriage certificate say anything (since presumably you can have easier access to it, being in Aston (I am assuming Aston is in England?)

I'm not finding a birth registration for Harrie, Harry, Harold or any Jenkins on Oct 22, 1910 in Ontario. But, could this be him in Brantford, Ontario?
