Hi All.
Could anybody tell me where i would go to look for a birth record or parish record for somebody who was born in Hanley. As i can not find the person on the internet geneology sights have tried several. Any help of suggestions would be most grateful as ia am beginning to wonder if i am ever going to get any further.

It would depend on roughly when the person was born. For births 1837 onwards, there is obviously the General Register Office (GRO) index. William Evason was supposedly born in Hanley in 1842 or there about as different census state his birth between 1840 and 1842.
Will have a go at the staffordshire sight.

Hi Eve
It is him i am having trouble locating him before 1871 as i can not find him before then. i can not find his birth record so that i can order his birth certificate so that i can confirm who his parents were and can go on from there. i know he was either born in the potteries or hanley as i do not know much about stafford are they the same place if that makes sense to you. If you can make any suggestions as to where i can look from here i would be most grateful.
