A very long shot this. John Rice was born in Killies Lane, Kilbourne, Belper abt 1880. The 1901 census shows him still with his parents....
Sometime after this he married and then deserted his wife and children and fled to Australia with a visitor to the Parish. Naturally nobody will discuss him .
He was I understand a Minister of the Cloth, although my family are prone to embroider the truth - so he could have been a Lay Preacher.
Any suggestions would be most welcome.
