Tuesday Nov 1 1791
Escaped last night, about seven o’clock, from Clerkenwell Bridewell.
John Oxley, otherwise OXON, charged with robbing several mails. He is about 25 years of age, five feet ten inches high, pale faced, pitted a little with the small-pox, and his nose turned rather to the right; had on when he made his escape, a dark green mixt (sic) coat, single breasted and twist buttons, striped waistcoat, the stripes lengthway, and a pair of corduroy breeches; is a Yorkshire man.
Whoever will secure the said John Oxley, otherwise Oxon, in any of His Majesty’s Goals of this kingdom, will be entitled to a Reward of fifty pounds.
