Hounsell Surname

Hello,
I'm interested in connecting with people who are researching Hounsell. My 3rd g-grandfather was Richard Hounsell, b. Bridport circa 1795. He emigrated to Newfoundland about 1830.

I have not done research into the Hounsell family but my ancestor Richard Genge of Whitchurch Canonicorum, Dorset who died c1790 married a Jane Hounsell, unfortnately I do not know the date of the marriage nor whether there would be a connection but Bridport and W/C are not that far apart as distance goes.

Hi Geoff,
Your surname certainly caught my eye when I read your post as my very good friend in Newfoundland shares it with you. I have no individual specifics but an enclave of Genges lived in and fished out of Flower's Cove on the Great Northern Penninsula of the island of Newfoundland. My friend's uncle is the current Bishop of Newfoundland and Labrador (C of E).
