In the 1841 Census of the Parish of Iver, Enumeration District 7 is described as:
"From the long bridge Uxbridge Road - All the south side to the Workhouse Lane - all the east side of Workhouse Lane to the Iver and Windsor Road opposite Captain Snooks (sic) - all the north side of the Village to Clisby's Bridge"
Does anyone know if Workhouse Lane is any present road, and what "Captain Snooks" was and where it was located?
Best regards
Colin

Sorry, I don't know if it still exists, however, there is a web-site with late 19th century maps which can often be used to follow the description of a parish from a census enumerator's book.
The URL is: http://www.old-maps.co.uk/welcome.htm
Select a county, then a place in a county, look beow the small map and there is a button to enlarge the view.
