Can any one assist with any information regarding descendants of Jabez Blunt who was born in Harlestone in 1826 and had 5 children his youngest Charles (1864) being my maternal g grandfatherwho as far as I am aware had 4 children Charle(1880), Thomas (1882), Elizabeth (1884) and Alice(1887) their mother was Kate Tero (1864)
Do you have census info on the BLUNTs? I can see that Jabez, born about 1827 in Harleston, turns up on the 1861, 1871, 1881 and 1891 censuses.
In 1861, Jabez is living in St. Sepulchre with wife Elizabeth and 4 daughters and a son -- Sarah A., Mary A., Elizabeth, Emma and Thomas -- born between 1846 and 1858. Occupation is given as Shoemaker. [RG9/935 Folio 50]
In 1871, same address but wife's name is Anne E. There are a daughter and 2 sons -- Emma, Thomas and Charles. Occupation is still Shoemaker. [RG10/1482 Folio 34]
In 1881, same street, wife Elizabeth, daughter Emma, son Thomas and grandson Harry. Occupation is Boot Maker. Charles is a boarder in a nearby household -- with wife Kate and son Charles. Occupation is Shoe Rivetter. [RG11/1545 Folio 59 and 58]
In 1891, same street, Jabez is a widower and Emma and Thomas are still living with him. I don't see Charles... [and, if I've got the right Kate...] Kate and Alice are boarders with William PALMER, a Fish Salesman. Kate's occupation is Housekeeper. There are a Charles, Thomas and Elizabeth BLUNT of the right ages in the Northampton Union Workhouse. [RG12/1195 Folio 100; RG12/1202 Folio 113; RG12/1199 Folio 8]
In 1901, Alice is still a boarder with William PALMER and her occupation is given as Shoemaker. [RG9/935 Folio 50]

Thanks Trish
I do have census info, Kate married William Henry Palmer Dec quarter 1894 and died Mar quarter 1898 but I have been unable to find out what happened to her first husband Charles I have checked all CRO Registers of death without any luck. Alice married William James Smith in Sep quarter 1909 and I know they had a daughter Alice but no trace of Thomas or Elizabeth, do you know if there are any records of the Workhouse available.
I was also hoping that some other descendant of Jabez might be researching and we could make contact.
Thanks Trish

Unfortunately, I don't know anything about records for the Northampton Union Workhouse. But, hopefully, someone else on this forum does and can comment...
Poor Charles and Kate -- it looks as if they both died at young ages. Do you have Alice's marriage certificate? It may give you a little more information.
Good luck,
Trish

There is not much here but at least it may be worth contacting the Records Office.
