I see that Canada collections on line have added the 1911 Census to their site, with images. I may have missed them, but I can't see an address index, or surname index. I am trying to find Ernest Algernon Nicholl and his family who in 1915 were living at 2557 46th Ave Collingwood, East Vancouver. Does anyone know which District, Sub-District, etc this would come under? Or, did I just miss the relevant index?
Any help much appreciated.

We are very lucky to have this census at all - they wanted to ditch it. I read on a site somewhere that volunteers will be indexing this census. Meanwhile I will carry on searching for my Stringles in London City. I know that they are there and that I will find them eventually - I remember searching census returns years ago before there were any indexes. I guess it all depends on how determined you are to find your ancestors - I am very determined :)

Thanks, I wish you luck with your searches. I thought that a Surname Index was a long shot, but I am surprised that there is, apparently, no District Index. As it turns out the question was academic, as I found Ernest and his family in Ontario via his marriage listing.

And I have found heaps of my hubby's family in New Brunswick before they moved to Ontario.
A surname index, requires a transcription. Is anyone willing to transcribe? Transcribing a census takes a VERY long time.
Just be thankful we even got the 1911 census records. :)
I am. :)
