Trying to find more on my 10th GGF Henry SCOTT b. 01 NOV 1560 Rattlesden, Suffolk; d. 24 DEC 1624 Rattlesden. His son, Thomas (1695-1643) sailed to America (Connecticut) in APR 1634.

Assume the Scott's moved from the borderlands of Scotland to Suffolk before 1450. When, who, why?

Do you know if there is any link between this family of Rattlesden and that of Glemsford?

My cousin and I are following a branch of Scotts from the Whatfield, Flowton, Elmsett areas. Our earliest Scott was Peter Scott, born 1796 in Whatfield.

These areas are not far from Rattlesham. I wonder if there's a connection?

We also cling to the romantic perception that the family originated from Scotland - but we have no idea when or if indeed there is any truth to our notion!
