HI

Would someone be able to tell me how i obtain Service records from WW1.
Having recieved my husband's G Grandfather's marriage certificate we noticed his rank was listed as:private 3rd battalion Royal Fuserliers i would say London. Travel is a bit of a problem for me as i live in Australia so i would like o know if i ca obtain them online? thanks

After you've read that, the WW1 campaign medals are a good thing to check.

As so many of the records were destroyed it might be an idea to check the Medal Rolls (which are not online) at the national archives. This can tell you a lot about the individual if their records have been destroyed as 60% were.

I would say it would be worth searcing to see if the regiment has a website or better still a museum site, I found one for my grandfather who was in the Lancers and they gave me quite a lot of information about his service always worth a try sandie
