My Norfolk LOW(E) family came from Buxton, those with interests in the same locality will have been similarly frustrated by the poor survival of parish records prior to 1700, which leaves many gaps and unanswered questions. I hope some day to prove a link to the Thomas LOWE mentioned in the 1577 muster, the Mathew LOWE who gave evidence in the odd ecclesiastical court case at Horstead a century later; perhaps to the small cluster of LOWE events in Aylsham at the start of the 18th century and to the two LOWE baptisms at Frettenham in 1589 and 1618.

But most of all, I'd like to prove a connection to the 'other' LOWE family(/ies) in this corner of Norfolk. The main one of which is a LOWE family from the Smallburgh and Sloley area. I've met and corresponded with descendents of this line - but where did the family originate?

Samuel LOWE, 1735-1783 came from this 'other' family, he is buried at Sloley, with several members of his family. I believe he was christened at Worstead on 14 Jan 1735/6, the eldest child of Robert + Deborah (Robert LOWE married Deborah NUD at Smallburgh in 1734). Robert is buried near his son in Sloley churchyard, he died in 1761 and he age was given as 53 - est.yr of birth 1708.

part 2.......

But I wonder if the age given may have been wrong (should it be 63??) - could he be the same Robert christened at Buxton in 1699? (this Robert was the son of my 8xgt grandparents Andrew + Elizabeth).

If the Robert who married Deborah NUD was bapt in 1699, could he have been previously married to Mary and had three children at Sco Ruston in the 1720's?

Or are there two Robert LOW(E)s living close by at the same time and the possible connection between their families is in earlier generations?

They're puzzles which keep me researching in the hope that I can one day solve them. As the song says, "There's gotta be a record of you someplace, you gotta be on somebody's books" - The title of this thread is from the same song - brownie points to anyone who knows the band and the track. Undying gratitude to anyone who finds the connection between these two families.
