On 3 Nov 1846, Thomas Summerlin (retired blacksmith) was acquited of a charge of "Assault with an unnatural intent" by Bedfordshire Assizes. It is with a certain amount of trepidation that I ask what might he have been up to? :confused5:

Many thanks, I had already guessed as much - I expect the murky details are in some court record or newspaper somewhere, but no doubt obfusticated with further circumlocutions. I shall let that sleeping dog (or whatever) lie until if/when I confirm him as an ancestor.
