Dawn,

The Civil Registration Index shows 2 SHORROCKs born in Devon in the early 1900s:
-- Kenneth Ralph SHORROCK in 1906 [Reference: Plymouth District Vol. 5b, Page 250]
-- Sybil Juliette W. SHORROCK in 1907 [Honiton District Vol. 5b Page 21].

Unfortunately, the index doesn't give more information. You would have to order the birth certificates to get parents' names, etc.

Have you looked for your ancestors in the 1901 census? You may find Bernard and Lily there.

At a glance, I see 2 Lily NANCARROWs listed for Devon, one born in 1881 and the other in 1885. Both are with their families. If one of these is your great grandmother you should be able to find out who her parents were.

And there are 3 Bernard SHORROCKs in Devon but only one is old enough to have a daughter by 1909 -- this Bernard was born in 1882 in Lancashire and is living in the Royal Marine Barracks in East Stonehouse. Reference: RG13/2105 Folio 118

If you find your great grandparents in 1901, you should be able to trace them in the 1881 census.

Hope this helps.

Trish
