Hi there folks, we are Mike and Jocelyn Bannister. George is Jocelyn's maternal 2xgt grandfather. We have been trying to establish exactly where George was born. In his attestation papers signed in Madras in 1825 when he was 13 years old he states that he was born in the city of York, and in the 1861 census he states he was born in Bradford, in 1871 in Yorkshire and in 1881 he was back to Bradford. In both the 1841 and 1851 Census he was in the Army being discharged at 39 years of age in 1852.
Our questions are:
Which location is likely to be most accurate?
Are there baptism records available either on line or otherwise for Bradford or York for the year c1812?

George states that his father was Peter Hardman a Boot and Shoemaker wehave been unable to locate any boot and shoemakers in the cities of Bradford or York in the 1822 Pigots Directiory, are there other earlier directories that we could consult?

That is a lot of information but if we can get any leads it could help us crack this mystery
All help and suggestions gladly received
